Quick Start Guide
Get DuffyBot answering support tickets in your Discord server in under 15 minutes. This guide covers the essentials. For a deeper walkthrough, see the Full Setup Guide.
Before You Start
- You need Administrator permission in the Discord server where you want to add DuffyBot
- The bot works in any Discord server, whether it is a gaming community, SaaS product, online course, or anything else
Step 1: Invite DuffyBot
Click the "Add to Discord" button on the DuffyBot homepage or from the dashboard. This will open Discord's authorization page where you select which server to add the bot to.
DuffyBot will request a set of permissions it needs to create ticket channels, manage messages, and read messages in knowledge base channels. Approve all permissions for the bot to work correctly.
Step 2: Run the Setup Wizard
After adding DuffyBot, log in to the DuffyBot Dashboard with your Discord account. Select your server and you will see the setup wizard.
The wizard walks you through:
Set a ticket channel
Choose staff roles
Add knowledge base content
Step 3: Post the Ticket Panel
Once setup is complete, DuffyBot posts an embed message with an "Open Ticket" button in your chosen channel. Users click this button to create a private support ticket.
When a user opens a ticket, DuffyBot:
- Creates a private channel visible only to the user and staff
- Reads the user's message and searches your knowledge base for relevant information
- Generates a helpful AI response based on what it finds
- If the AI is not confident in its answer, it automatically escalates to human staff
What's Next?
- Add more knowledge base sources to improve answer quality
- Set up ticket categories so users can choose what type of help they need
- Configure AI behavior like conversation style and confidence thresholds
- Explore the dashboard for analytics, embeds, and more settings
